Learning Activity Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Define the basic principles of population demographics and explain their importance in public health planning.

  2. List and define key population and family planning indicators, demonstrating understanding through discussion or assessment.

  3. Outline and apply the basic steps of counselling in reproductive health, with emphasis on family planning counselling techniques.

  4. Identify the requirements for informed decision-making in contraceptive choice, ensuring respect for client autonomy and cultural sensitivity.

  5. Characterize various contraceptive methods by describing their:

    • Mechanism of action

    • Effectiveness indicators

    • Side effects

    • Non-contraceptive benefits

    • Eligibility criteria

    • Appropriate interventions for common issues during use

  6. Demonstrate competency in the insertion and removal of IUCDs and Implanon, following standard clinical and safety protocols.
