Learning Activity Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Identify early signs of airway compromise using rapid and systematic assessment tools.

2. Distinguish between normal and abnormal airway findings across a variety of clinical presentations.

3. Apply evidence-based protocols for immediate airway management in emergency contexts.

4. Select and utilize appropriate airway equipment (e.g., BVM, supraglottic devices, endotracheal tubes) based on patient needs.

5. Demonstrate correct techniques for basic and advanced airway maneuvers.

6. Develop rapid decision-making strategies during airway emergencies, including when to escalate to advanced interventions.

7. Communicate effectively within the healthcare team during high-stress airway events.

8. Recognize predictor factors for difficult airways and plan preventive strategies accordingly.

Learning Activity Description:

This intensive, hands-on program provides healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for rapid, accurate, and airway assessment and intervention in emergency and critical care settings. The course focuses on early recognition of airway compromise, structured assessment techniques, decision-making under pressure, and evidence-based approaches to securing the airway.

Through a focus of expert-led instruction, simulation-based practice, case scenarios, and interactive discussions, participants will learn to perform airway evaluations, choose appropriate airway devices, manage difficult airways, and respond effectively to high-risk situations. The course is designed to build confidence, improve team communication, and enhance patient safety during airway emergencies.

Learning Outcome:

1. Conduct a complete rapid airway assessment using standardized frameworks (e.g., LEMON, MOANS).

2. Perform timely and safe airway interventions in simulated emergency scenarios.

3. Confidently manage patients with compromised airways using both basic and advanced techniques.

4. Demonstrate competency in selecting and operating airway devices appropriate to different clinical situations.

5. Prioritize patient safety through early recognition of deterioration and appropriate escalation.

6. Integrate clinical judgment with protocol-based practice for effective airway management.

7. Collaborate efficiently with multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes during airway crises.

8. Improve response times and reduce errors in airway-related emergencies through structured, practiced approaches.
