Learning Activity Objectives:


1-     Discuss the Anatomy and physiology of pelvic floor muscle and anal sphincter

2-     Review the different types of perineal tears and how to reach the proper diagnosis

3-     Review and apply the different techniques in repairing third and fourth-degree perineal tears

4-     Define and discuss safe surgical practice

5-     Explain the short- and long-term complications associated with third and fourth-degree perineal tears with appropriate follow-up

Learning Activity Description:

The course will be conducted by highly expert gynecologists and sub-specialized urogynecologists who have vast experience in this field. The course will take place over a day with a hands-on workshop on reconstruction of 4th-degree tear suturing on cow anal sphincters. This interactive, clinically oriented program will explore all the related aspects of obstetrical perineal and anal sphincter trauma extensively.

The participants will get a clear understanding of all the practice in this field and their level of evidence. We are sure that you will get a great benefit from the course will be very high and we will be very happy to hear your comments at the end of the course.

Learning Outcome:

upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

1- Recognize and differentiate the different types of perineal tears

  2- Identify the pelvic floor anatomy and anal sphincter function

3-Apply different repair techniques for third and fourth-degree tears such as end-to-end and overlap techniques

4. Recognize the post-repair care and follow-up.

It is preferable that you have scrubs on as you will be exposed to suturing practice on animal tissue. 

Masks, Gloves, and Gowns are provided in the course.
