By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Identify and demonstrate the proper use of key laparoscopic instruments in simulated or clinical settings.
Perform safe and effective abdominal access techniques during laparoscopic surgery, following standard procedural protocols.
Assist a laparoscopic surgeon competently, anticipating surgical needs and demonstrating proper teamwork in the operating room.
Recognize and troubleshoot common challenges in laparoscopic procedures, applying problem-solving strategies to maintain patient safety and procedural efficiency.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
Identify and describe the components of a laparoscopy setup, including the tower, light source, insufflator, and telescope.
Differentiate between various port entry devices, and demonstrate the safe use of instruments such as the Veress needle, Endoclose, dissection forceps, scissors, and needle holder.
Explain and operate electrosurgical and harmonic devices, as well as irrigation and suction systems, used in laparoscopic procedures.
Develop and demonstrate key psychomotor and coordination skills, including hand–eye coordination, manual dexterity, depth perception, and effective interaction between dominant and non-dominant hands.
Perform basic laparoscopic tasks such as simulated bowel handling, knot tying, and both intra- and extra-corporeal suturing techniques with precision and safety.
