Overall Course Objectives:
At the end of both courses, each participant should be able to:
- Identify time-sensitive interventions in the management of common neurological emergencies, specifically acute ischemic stroke, cerebellar ischemia, and status epilepticus.
- Describe a systematic approach to the management of common neurological complaints, specifically altered mental status, dizziness, and acute weakness.
- Describe a systematic approach to the symptomatic treatment of acute primary headaches
- Implement evidence-based practice in the care of their patients with acute neurological emergencies.
Course Description
The course will enhance the participant’s ability to approach common acute neurological presentations in the Emergency Department, with a focus on pearls and pitfalls essential to know in clinical practice. It will also provide updates to the management of neurological emergencies according to latest evidence.
